Brazil vs Brasil

Gringos & gringas take note; the “Z” should be removed from the name Brazil and be replaced with the letter “S”.

The following article discusses foreigners’ disdain of Brazilian culture by their use of the letter “Z” in the spelling of the name Brazil, instead of the letter “S” (which is the Portuguese way of spelling Brazil). However, even the government can’t get it right sometimes and throughout the last century have used either spelling on the currency notes of the country!

However in 1943, the Academia das Ciências de Lisboa established a set of orthographic norms for the Portuguese language and proclaimed that Brazil should indeed be spelt with an S!

Let this be a reminder to all of you disdainful foreigners! Show the Brasileiros some respect and get rid of that “Z”!
